I don't know about you, but I'm ready for the Royal Baby to make his or her debut!!! Unfortunately, the Great Kate Wait continues.
Poor Kate Middleton. ( <--- I laugh at myself for even typing that. With her hair and the future title of Queen of England, it hardly seems fair to think there is anything unfortunate about her life.) Everything related to her is going to work in a reference to 'wait,' all because it rhymes with her first name. (Maybe that's why there's such a push to change all references to Catherine?) First, there was 'Waity Katie,' for all the years she patiently waited for Prince William to get his sh$t together and finally put a ring on it. Now, we have 'The Great Kate Wait' as we wait for the push heard 'round the world.
It's hard for me to put my Royal Family interest into words. I'm about as American as you can get, and I can't say anyone in my family has spent a significant amount of time in England to grow my infatuation. American gossip rags explain that we're obsessed with the Royal Family because over here we don't have royalty. (Aside from Jay-Z and Beyonce, I think is what they mean.)
A few years ago, my mom, sisters and I all planned to be home together for the Royal Wedding of Will and Kate. Actually, we were really just trying to get home at the same time for once, and we made the Royal Wedding our excuse. We. had. so. much. fun!!! I arrived home first, and Mommabear and I made fascinators for everyone to wear. We also planned a big spread that included a wedding cake (it was royal blue), champagne toasts, croissants, the works. And, yes, we all woke up around 4 a.m. to pretend we were the Duchesses of Mt. Carmel-shire to watch the festivities. We had quite the day!
Our Royal Spread for the festivities. See that plate? It is from Queen Elizabeth's coronation. My maternal grandmother must've picked this up on a visit to Canada that same year and it's now in my possession.
Who doesn't remember the first moment they saw Kate on her wedding day? Disney couldn't have made her look like a more perfect princess if they tried!
Fascinators and a replica engagement ring. No details were missed.
We fancied ourselves as the Duchesses of Mt. Carmel-shire for the day.
Another view of the Royal Spread.
Of course this was as good as it looked! It was a Mommabear original!!!
So, first comes loves, second comes marriage, and now we keep waiting for the Royal Baby carriage. It's a natural progression … unfortunately, it's making this impatient American practice patience.
What are your guesses for the Royal Baby's name?
Hey, Ashley! I had no idea you had started this blog. I happened to get on FB tonight and saw the link to your blog on your Mom's post. Didn't know what I was getting. I started reading it before I realized it was you! (Didn't take me long, I must say!) Can't wait to follow you and read more. I do miss Maggie's FB page! You are awesome! Love, Deb (MIL)
