I just. can't. quit. Nordstrom.

Oh, Nordstrom. I need to quit you, but just can't. You lure me in with your luxury beauty counters and supple leather handbags and I just. can't. quit. you.

Flashback to last week when a Google ad alerted me to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Early access for store cardholders? I'm a cardholder - this includes me! After a few minutes of browsing Nordstrom.com and reading a blog review or two or nine of the anniversary sale items earlier in the day, I knew there was at least one item that required my immediate attention. The NARS Bold Lip kit? Had to have it ASAP. (I'll include a more detailed review of that delightful little set in a later post.)

That's how I found myself in the department store Wednesday evening on the first day of said sale.

So as I browsed the indoor tents as an elitist cardholder with my NARS box in hand (sucked to be 'regular' people in the store, I thought while holding my nose high in the air), I was approached by a kind salesman that asked me if I was finding everything ok. "This is the greatest day of my life" probably would have seemed a bit facetious, and instead I politely informed him that I was just fine and perusing the goodies for a bit longer.

"Did you see the Voluspa candle set? They're my absolute favorite," he said. My blank stare gave me away. I had seen it, but I walked by knowing I didn't want to drop $50 on scented candles. He informed me these beauties were just $29.50 for all three during the Anniversary Sale. Normal retail value is $16 each, so I thought of it as 'buy two, get one free,' and therefore decided it was an appropriate time to lose my Voluspa virginity.

***Before we get too far into this blog, you need to know that I'm a sucker for three things in life: accents, Marriotts and 'free things.'***

I burned the Laguna candle a little bit Friday evening and it's amazing. Saijo Persimmon and Pink Citron smell equally lovely, and I've put them away to burn at a later date. Even if I don't burn them, they'd make great gifts on short notice … maybe even an 'extravagant' White Elephant Gift during the holidays with my extended family. (We have a cheap and difficult $10 limit, but three for $30 make these $10 each and significantly better than a lame Whitman's Sampler.)

Honestly, I'm probably going back to Nordstrom soon to pick up the other set that includes Champagne, Pomegranate Patchouli and Coeur de Cassis. The chic packaging of that trio blends in perfectly with my home decor on the first floor where I more frequently burn candles, and the light colors of the set I already purchased are ideal for the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms.

How about y'all? Anyone else shop the Anniversary Sale early and pick up anything worth recommending?

PS … I feel significantly more refined and cultured for just typing Coeur de Cassis. Please don't ask me to pronounce it.
Ashley
